Honorary Degree Reception for Liz Akiwenzie

Join us in honoring and celebrating Liz Akiwenzie following the awarding of her Honorary Degree at the morning convocation ceremony of June 11, 2026.

The Wampum Learning Lodge will open its doors to welcome Liz’s family, friends, colleagues, and community members to gather in celebration of her accomplishments and to share in this meaningful moment. This reception is an opportunity to recognize not only Liz’s achievements, but also the impact her work has had across generations and communities.

The afternoon will include opening remarks, a pipe ceremony, a light feast, and space for reflections and sharing. Liz, along with family members and friends, will offer words on what this recognition represents.

All are welcome. Guests are encouraged to bring their bundles, rattles, and drums.

Morning Convocation Ceremony - By Invite Only

Earlier that morning at 10:00 a.m., Liz will receive her honorary degree during the convocation ceremony, where she will also deliver a 15-minute address to graduates. The ceremony will be livestreamed. Details to access the livestream will be shared closer to the date.
