The Wampum Learning Lodge is an Indigenous teaching, learning and gathering space at Western University. As a hub for Indigenous initiatives on campus, this is the page for everything happening at the Lodge – from workshops, speaker series, community engagement events and seasonal gatherings.

Upcoming Events

Explore our calendar to see all scheduled activities, workshops and community events taking place at the Lodge. New offerings are added throughout the year, so check back often to stay connected with what’s happening in our space.

Annual Gatherings

The Lodge hosts several recurring programs to honour Indigenous knowledge, culture and community, some occur on an annual or weekly basis. Each program has its own page with more information about its purpose and how to participate.

Round Dance

Happening in November to recognize the anniversary of the Wampum learning Lodge, the Round Dance brings together hundreds of students, faculty, staff, families and local community members in a powerful celebration of culture and community.

Indigenous Winter Market

In celebration of Indigenous artistry and entrepreneurship, the Wampum Learning Lodge showcases over 20 talented local Indigenous businesses/artisans for the campus and London community to shop for the holiday season while supporting local Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Ongoing Programs

Culture Nights Program

Bi-weekly on Wednesday evenings, the Wampum Learning Lodge opens our doors to bring both our Western and local communities together for three different cultural programs for crafting, fitness and drumming! Please note that each group has its own intended audience.

Elder-in-Residence

Our Elder in Residence supports students, staff and faculty in facilitating and contributing Indigenous ways of knowing, languages and cultural practices into the university learning and work environment, making it unique in its reach to the entire campus.
