Annual Round Dance

The Annual Round Dance at the Wampum Learning Lodge has grown to become one of the largest Indigenous community engagement events hosted by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives. Each year, it brings together hundreds of students, faculty, staff, family members and local community members in a powerful celebration of culture and connection.
A Round Dance is a traditional Anishinaabe and Cree winter ceremony involving participants joining hands in a circle to dance, sing and celebrate life, community and the spirit of ancestors. Held during the colder months, these gatherings promote healing, remembrance and unity through shared songs, stories, food and drumming.
The annual Round Dance happens on the Friday of the first full week of November.
